Rodić Davidson acted as Listed Building Architects and were commissioned by the owner of the property to prepare proposals for the building’s restoration to its original historic use as a single-family dwelling. Planning and Listed Building consent for the amalgamation of the subdivided units into one dwelling was granted by Westminster City Council in 2015. This consent included many improvements to the building which sought to repair its historic plan form and reinstate important heritage features that had been previously lost or obscured by earlier alterations. The consented proposals also contain a new basement storey and a new lift.
Following the owner’s later purchase of the mews building immediately to the rear of the house, a subsequent consent was obtained by Rodić Davidson Architects which included the further extension of the new basement underneath the mews, along with a ground floor link between the mews and the main house thereby allowing the provision of secure off-street parking.
The property is situated within Grosvenor’s Belgravia Estate, and a number of aspects of development are subject to the control of Grosvenor’s Belgravia Estate Management Scheme.
Full air conditioning features throughout and the building’s services infrastructure has been comprehensively upgraded to provide fully integrated lighting, AV and security systems.
