Our response initially focused on creating additional floor area. Our options were to extend upwards and downwards. We secured planning consent for both a new basement and a new mansard roof, thereby almost doubling the size of the property. The mews house was completely stripped with only part of the front elevation retained.
Grosvenor consent was required and obtained for the refurbishment but the constraints imposed were very strict. Skips were not allowed on the mews and had to be located two roads away, thus requiring a very carefully considered construction plan.
Meticulous attention was given to maximising the use of every inch of internal area. The property was fully air conditioned with sophisticated technology requiring detailed architectural co-ordination with the various consultants and subcontractors. Rodic Davidson Architects undertook and coordinated all architectural design aspects of the project, from concept design through to completion and worked in close collaboration with a full professional team.
